Biomedical Training: For whom? What ?

Formation

AFIACARE offers training modules for biomedical technicians, focused on maintaining the performance and electrical safety of the following medical devices:

  • Monitor
  • Defibrillator
  • Baby Incubator
  • Syringe and infusion pumps

Learning objectives

  • Identification with biomedical technicians of the subjects they wish to cover.
  • Identification of levels of theoretical understanding in order to adjust theoretical teaching.
  • Understand how the various medical devices mentioned above work.
  • Carry out curative and preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment.
  • Understand the operation of the test simulators and testers that are required to check the correct functioning and electrical safety of medical equipment.
  • Understand how to use test simulators and testers to check medical equipment for correct operation and electrical safety.

Tools

For the workshop sessions :

  • One Patient monitor and One defibrillator provided by the trainer
  • Provision of test equipment: Fluke ESA6212, Prosim 8, Impulse 7000 and the Fluke Incu, Fluke IDA5 for practical workshop sessions.
  • Training materials and performance monitoring test sheet will be provided..

During the course, time may be devoted to dealing with specific issues that course participants wish to address, up to a maximum of 10% of the total duration of the course.

A typical training programme

Example of a request from the biomedical department :

70 %

of the training time will be devoted to simulations and functional tests, as well as to the electrical safety of medical devices

30 %

of the training time will focus on the theoretical part relating to the operation of medical devices as well as test and simulation equipment

Training course location

The training can take place in a hospital establishment or outside, face-to-face, at the establishment’s charge.
